Acting on tip-offs received by Army Intelligence, officials carried out a special joint operation alongside the Department of Wildlife Conservation in Kantale on November 3. The target was tucked deep inside the Somawathiya Reserve at Agbopura, Divulgaswewa.

Massive Spread Inside the Reserve

Officers raided a three-acre plantation packed with more than 35,000 cannabis plants. That was not all, as they also spotted another two acres of land already being readied for even more cultivation.

A suspect was caught at the location and taken into custody during the raid.

The Department of Wildlife Conservation, Kantale, is conducting further legal proceedings regarding the incident.
