A resident of Ragama has been arrested during a raid on Wednesday (04) night. The Police Media Division said the operation was launched in the Ginkenda area by Ragama Police following a tip-off.

The 40-year-old woman stands accused of swindling money from people after assuring them of foreign travel opportunities, according to police.

Evading court

Police revealed that the woman was actively dodging legal proceedings. Because of this, the Welisara Magistrate’s Court had already issued 12 warrants for her arrest.

Ragama Police are carrying out further investigations into the alleged scam.

What happens next

The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Welisara Magistrate’s Court today (05).
