A fresh team has formally taken charge at the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL). According to the commission, retired Supreme Court Judge Justice V. K. Malalgoda assumed duties as the new Chairperson on November 02, 2026.

New members on board

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake appointed the new head following recommendations from the Constitutional Council.

Alongside the Chairperson, four other members assumed duties: S. Y. M. Gomez, A. L. A. Azeez, S. S. S. B. D. H. Jayawardena and Professor T. Jayasingam. The HRCSL stated these appointments were made after the terms of office of the previous Chairperson and members came to an end.
