A big venue switch has been confirmed for the upcoming cricket series between Sri Lanka and India. The opening One-Day International, slated for December 13, will no longer happen in New Delhi. Instead, Visakhapatnam will now host the match.

Why the venue changed

The change of ground came after an appeal by the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). The association raised worries about possible weather disruptions as well as planned renovation work at the venue.

The New Delhi ground was initially set to stage its first ODI since the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup, but fans there will now have to wait.

Tour details

Sri Lanka is touring India for a full white-ball showdown featuring six matches in total. The series includes three ODIs and three T20 Internationals.

Even though the location has been shifted to Visakhapatnam, the date of the first fixture stays set on December 13 without any change.
