Big news for taxpayers facing registration troubles. The Inland Revenue Department has decided to postpone the compulsory submission of Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TIN) for eight essential services until April 1, 2027.
The Commissioner General of Inland Revenue confirmed this five-month extension. The requirement had initially taken effect on November 1.
Troubles faced by the public
This postponement comes right after citizens experienced major difficulties while trying to get TIN certificates. People faced massive queues at Inland Revenue offices, while the department's online system also suffered disruptions.
The government previously offered temporary relief for opening bank accounts and renewing vehicle revenue licences.
Which services are covered?
The five-month delay applies to eight specific activities across the country.
These include opening bank accounts, getting approvals for building plans, vehicle registrations, vehicle revenue licence renewals, land registrations, business registrations, transferring company shares, and securing credit cards.
