A special tribute has arrived from across the ocean. The United States Postal Service (USPS) unveiled a new Forever stamp marking Diwali. The US Embassy in India shared the update on X, noting the global and cultural importance of the festival of lights.
The design details
The newly released stamp features a circular, rangoli-style pattern with bright colours set against a purple background. Below the art, the word Diwali is shown clearly, along with the text USA / FOREVER.
Rangoli patterns are traditionally crafted at home entrances, prayer areas and courtyards using flower petals, coloured powders and natural materials to welcome Goddess Lakshmi.
Second time honoured
This release is the second time the USPS has brought out a stamp for Diwali, following their first commemorative stamp back in 2016.
The festival signifies light winning over darkness and good over evil, celebrated widely across India and worldwide with diyas, sweets and prayers.
