A scary incident has come to light from France. Hackers targeted refrigeration control systems at three facilities run by the French Blood Establishment (EFS).

These facilities store plasma needed for blood transfusions and medicine production. Reports from French media reveal the attackers managed to breach the systems through an equipment supplier.

Temperature shock averted

The attackers did not just snoop around. They actually tried to alter storage temperatures from around minus 30°C all the way up to 110°C.

Fortunately, monitoring and alarm systems picked up the strange change immediately. Staff moved fast to protect or shift the blood supplies before anything was spoiled.

The French Health Ministry confirmed that everything is under control. Blood collection and distribution were not interrupted at all, and no supplies were lost.

Pattern across Europe

This frightening strike follows similar incidents where hackers tampered with supermarket refrigeration systems across several European nations, spoiling huge amounts of food.

French cybersecurity authorities have opened a probe into the latest attack. Officials say it is still not clear who did it or whether these attacks are linked.
