The Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine has addressed the viral fight video making rounds on social media. Officials clarified that the incident was simply a personal dispute between two groups of students, not an act of ragging.

The Dean of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine issued an official statement on November 4, 2026, pointing out that the clash occurred on November 2, 2026, between seniors and first-year students.

Altered Footage and Ongoing Probes

According to the university administration, selectively edited videos and altered photographs were deliberately posted online to paint the dispute as ragging and tarnish the institution's good name.

The university management assured that lectures and academic work for both first and second-year batches are continuing smoothly in a safe, ragging-free setting. Meanwhile, internal disciplinary inquiries and formal police probes are currently underway to take legal and administrative steps against everyone involved.
