Amid the rubble of destroyed buildings and tents sheltering displaced persons, a remarkable wedding ceremony was held for young Palestinian couples at a seaside hall in Gaza City. The main objective was to offer relief to young people grappling with severe economic hardship and to kindle fresh hope of love.
This massive event was organised through a special initiative under the United Arab Emirates humanitarian mission Operation Gallant Knight 3. The couples were selected through a special lottery system from among 11,622 applicants.

Traditional dancing and wedding motorcade
During the mass wedding ceremony, newlyweds celebrated by dancing to traditional music, while decorated wedding cars were seen driving along Gaza's coastal road. Both Palestinian and UAE national flags were reportedly displayed throughout the venue grounds.
This is seen as a striking symbol of efforts to move life forward and preserve their culture, even in the face of intense military conflict and hardship.
Hope amid ongoing conflict
Although a ceasefire was implemented in October last year, Israeli airstrikes are still reported almost daily. The conflict began after an attack launched by Hamas on 7 October 2023, which killed around 1,200 people and saw 251 taken hostage.
According to health ministry figures in the territory, over 74,640 people have been killed in the military operations launched by Israel in response. Amid such harsh conditions, the marriage of these 250 Palestinian couples has captured widespread global attention.
