The Department of Excise has taken special measures to close liquor retail outlets in certain areas tomorrow (08) in view of the Deepavali festival. Accordingly, it has been announced that all liquor stores located within the Northern Province and the Nuwara Eliya District must remain closed tomorrow.

Situation in Badulla and legal action
Liquor outlets across all Divisional Secretariat divisions in the Badulla District, except for the Mahiyanganaya and Rideemaliyadda Divisional Secretariat divisions, will also remain closed tomorrow.
The Department of Excise stated that strict legal action will be taken against any outlets that violate license conditions and sell liquor in defiance of these directives. The public has also been requested to notify the authorities of any violations by calling the 1913 emergency hotline.
