US President Donald Trump has spoken openly about the recent midterm election defeat. On Wednesday, Nov 4, he acknowledged that the conflict with Iran hurt his Republican party, which ended up losing control of Congress.
Even so, Trump firmly defended the campaign. He explained to reporters that taking action against Tehran was essential to prevent them from obtaining nuclear arms, stating he would not have handled things any differently.

The war reportedly triggered a jump in gasoline prices, creating serious trouble for Republican candidates and opening the door for major Democratic gains across the country.
Earlier on Wednesday, Vice President JD Vance posted on social media calling the conflict the main reason for their deep losses. Trump noted he was fine with Vance's remarks.
Trump also claimed that had he been directly on the ballot, Republicans would have secured victory. He explained that supporters showed incredible affection at his rallies, but that strong connection could not simply be passed down to other candidates.
