A haul of 39 drones brought into the country by SJB MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha has ended up in Sri Lanka Customs custody. The parliamentarian brought the items on his return from Singapore.
Customs Spokesperson Chandana Punchihewa stated that officials held the shipment because the MP had not presented the essential regulatory papers.
Approvals Required
Authorities have instructed the MP to secure proper permits before taking the items. He must get clearances from the Department of Import and Export Control, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC), and the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
What happens next
All 39 drones will remain in Customs custody until the required documentation is submitted.
