A protest march organised by the Jana Aragala Vyaparaya against the government's proposed PSTA bill reached near the Parliament entrance in an eye-catching and unusual manner. Popular actor Jehan Appuhami became the most prominent figure at the demonstration.
He arrived at the protest bare-chested, displaying tattoos inked across his upper body. Having previously drawn widespread attention during the 2022 Aragalaya by carrying a cross on his back to demand justice for the Easter attack victims, he once again registered his dissent in a striking manner.
March begins from Polduwa
The protest march commenced from the Polduwa junction and proceeded towards the Parliament entrance. Their primary objective was to demonstrate their strong opposition to lawmakers regarding the proposed Protection of the State from Terrorism Bill (PSTA) and the Organized Crime Bill.
The Jana Aragala Vyaparaya pointed out that these proposed new bills could undermine the fundamental rights and freedoms of the people in the country.
